Jay's Jazz Journeys: Feb. 25th - 27th 2016

John B. and Jessica Williams

Happy Birthday John B. Williams! It was another great night at the House of Music and Entertainment in Beverly Hills at the Thursday Night Jazz Jam. Bass great John B. celebrated his 75th with friends and family at The Jam... and what a nice way to celebrate.

The party drew one of the biggest crowds, yet, to attend the jam. It also brought out a large number of performers, including internationally known celebrities such as pianist Eric Reed (Wynton Marsalis) and bass master Andrew Gouche (Prince and the New Power Generation). There were standout performances, indeed! Dyan Kane wowed the crowd with

a nice version of the rarely heard, Jeneen! But the star had to be newcomer Harmonica Otis who not only impressed on his harmonica, but his smooth vocals had the crowd cheering him on, too!

Friday, yours truly had to put it down at the Aldabella Winery with the Nu Lu Band. Not much to say here, except we killed it. It was nice seeing and hearing master vocalist Masta Edge of Soul in the house. This really is a beautiful venue that celebrates live music. Kudos to the owners for keeping it live!

The Journey ended on a high note back at HOME Beverly Hills where internationally known Jazz stylist Leslie Bee brought the house down! She drew a great crowd to the upscale fine-dining event, performing classics such as 'Bye-Bye-Blackbird' to Beso Me Mucho.

Not only can this lady swing and sing, she's also hilarious! Rip-roaring fun as Ms. Bee dazzled. It was my first time seeing her live, although I've enjoyed her CDs for years. It was truly a treat and look forward to seeing her again, soon!
